Introduction

This blog has been created to chronicle the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) new efforts to widen Interstate 66 west of the Capital Beltway and the destructive community impacts resulting from VDOT’s proposed plans.

In late January, 2015, VDOT has published two sets of project maps on VDOT’s project website, http://transform66.org.  One set is “Alternative 2A,” and the second set is “Alternative 2B.”  The net effect of these plans is the permanent destruction of dozens of local homes, and loss of property for over a hundred more homes and businesses.
