Before VDOT rushes to build more express lanes on I-66, taking much private land and family homes in the process, it is worth taking a step back to examine the new express lanes already operating on other Northern Virginia Interstate highways.  WTOP recently aired a “Sprawl & Crawl” story about the perceived benefits of I-95 Express Lanes for drivers.  While the Australian operator of that roadway, Transurban Limited, says things are just great, drivers have a different experience.  Some have noted that the existing (free) lanes have become worse.

One I-95 driver wrote, ““ I-95 has become horrible now and Transurban wants to pull the same stunt with I-66.”
